Chinese Children Learn English With Mickey Mouse Through Retail Marketing Strategy
on Jun19 2011
A Disney learning center in Shanghai is helping kids learn English with popular animated characters like Mickey Mouse and Wall-E. This is one of the common ways to build a strong retail marketing strategy. The kids love the twice-weekly sessions, with many saying they wish they could attend every day because the Disney English classroom makes learning the language so much fun. Teaching English to children in the world's most populous nation has proven so lucrative for Disney that they have tripled the number of language schools in the past year, and have plans for more.
It also happens to be a very effective way of marketing their brand and the new $4.4 billion Shanghai Disney Resort, which is scheduled to open in five years. China's private education market, which includes international schools, is projected to grow to $79.6 billion by 2012, spurred by catalysts including increased domestic consumption, government subsidies for schooling and a cultural emphasis on education.
